Scaling up….at last!
Since my last blog where I shared some photographs of willow herb, I have been painting those same plants over and over again. Actually, to be more accurate I have drawn the outlines then painted them. I have loved it. The mixture of line and painting is interesting.
Priorities
…much as I miss my art time, sometimes what is going on with people I care about, and spending time with them is more important
New season, new work
I am always inspired by the seasons but mid-April to early June is my favourite time of year. Everything growing and expanding and becoming colourful. Its a joyous time and it makes me want to make lots of new things with abandon.
Influences: why do they matter?
This month I am interested in influences. What am I influenced by and why? What does that tell me about myself and how is my work impacted?
Does it ever become “not-scary” when you do something new?
An exploration of risk taking and learning new things.
Over the last month I have continued my exploration of painting close ups of hyacinths. I am interested in exactly how “close up” to get in the image composition, and the impact of the size of the painting itself. As I go along, for each of the paintings, I am playing with various colour palettes to suit the particular subject of that painting.
